Really good red ale

Beer: Really good red ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
28 HCU (~15 SRM)
Bitterness: 41 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.5% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Grain: 12 oz. American crystal 60L
2 oz. American black patent
Steep: Steep grains in 2 gallons of 150 degrees water for 30 minutes
or
Add grains to 2 Gallons of cold water and remove at 170 degrees
Add extracts and 2 ounces of hops.
Bring to boil.
Boil for 45 minutes.
Add rest of hops and Irish Moss
Boil 15 minutes more.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.045 5 gallons
3.3 lb. Light malt extract
2 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 tablespoon Irish Moss

Hops: 2 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: #1056 American Ale (Wyeast) or 2 (7gram) packs of Munton dried ale yeast
Log: Steep grains in 2 gallons of 150 degrees water for 30 minutes
or
Add grains to 2 Gallons of cold water and remove at 170 degrees
Add extracts and 2 ounces of hops.
Bring to boil.
Boil for 45 minutes.
Add rest of hops and Irish Moss
Boil 15 minutes more.
Cool wort to 90 degrees then add to fermentor with 3 gallons cold water.
Temp should be just about right for adding yeast.
Ferment out then rack to secondary and let clear for 1 week.
Bottle, wait 3 weeks and enjoy.
This is one of my favorite (extract) American Red Ale recipes.
