Add 10 quarts of 176° water to the grain. Only acheived a temp of 146, so heated to 162 oops. Added ice down to 156°. Added heat three times to keep at 156°. Was slow in converting. Mashed for 2 hours 45 minutes. Maybe the iodine test isn't accurate since my mash effic- iency was at 83%!. Sparged with 6 gallons of 180° water rsulting in 7 gallons of wort. |
