Bosley's Black Dog IPA
The goal here is to develop a high gravity IPA-style drink with
a lot of hop flavor. Bosley, my black Lab, highly recommends this
year round brew for all occasions.

Water: | Boil 6 gallons of filtered tap water beforehand to remove as much chlorine as possible. |

Grain: | 1.5 lb. British pale 1 lb. American crystal 20L |

Steep: | Crack grains and steep in two gallons 150-155°F water for 45 minutes. Sparge with 1 gallon of water at 170°F. |

Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.098 | 4 gallons | |||||
9 lb. Light malt extract 8 oz. Light dry malt extract |

Add all malt extract and boil for 60 minutes, adding hops according to their listed times. Add a little Irish Moss during the last 10 minutes of boil, if desired. |

Hops: | 3.50 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.) 1.75 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.) 1.75 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 15 min.) 3 oz. Cascade (aroma) |

Yeast: | Wyeast 1098 British Ale yeast. Pitch when wort has reached a temperature of 65-70°F. A 1 liter starter is recommended for this high gravity recipe. |

Log: | A blow-off hose is recommended to use on the primary fermenter. Ferment in the primary at 63-68°F until there is no noticible yeast activity. Rack to secondary and ferment at 63-68°F for an additional 14 days. Dryhop using the described amount above for the last 7 days. |
