Warm & Fuzzy Barley Wine

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
63 HCU (~26 SRM)
Bitterness: 83 IBU
OG: 1.110 FG: 1.024
Alcohol: 11.0% v/v (8.7% w/w)
Water: I added 1 Tablespoon of Burton water salts to the bottled water that I used.
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 40L
4 oz. American chocolate
4 oz. American black patent
Steep: Steep the grains for 30 minutes at 150°. Then remove them before raising the temp to boiling.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.110 5 gallons
13 lb. 8 oz. Light malt extract
1 lb. Molasses
I do a full 5 gallon boil. If you boil less than that you'll have to increase the hops to get the same final result.
Hops: 3.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast 1028 does a nice job with this.
