Nikolai's Birthday Stout

Brewed in January for my son's 21st birthday which is in early July.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
287 HCU
Bitterness: 63 IBU
OG: 1.091 FG: 1.034
Alcohol: 7.3% v/v (5.8% w/w)
Water: Hard, Los Altos, CA tap water
Grain: 1.5 lb. Black patent
1 lb. Belgian Special B
.5 lb. Pale chocolate
.5 lb. Chocolate
.5 lb. Belgian CaraMunich
Steep: Steeped grains at 150° - 155° for 30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.091 5 gallons
11 lb. Light malt extract
Hops: 1.5 oz. Magnum (14.4% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Vanguard (5.8% AA, 10 min.)
2 oz. Vanguard (5.8% AA, 1 min.)
Yeast: White Labs - California Ale.
Log: Brewed on January 17, 2010. Forgot to measure OG :(
Jan. 28 transferred to secondary fermentation container. SG was 1.046.
Feb. 13 SG still high at 1.044. Added one packet of yeast mixed with 3/4 cup water and 1/4 cup stout.
Feb. 27 FG was 1.034.
Carbonation: 2.1 volumes Corn Sugar: 3.40 oz. for 5 gallons @ 70°F
Tasting: Tasted one bottle in mid May and it was progressing well.
