Brewbie Koobie
This was my first brew. The name is derived from my wife's "pet name", and is a tribute to her patience and understanding with my new hobby.
This recipe was based on a "rough idea" recipe for Sam Adam's Light. I had to modify those recommendations due to availablility of items at the local brew store. It doesn't taste anything like Sam's Light, but is very good.

Steep: | Placed grains in sock. Covered with 2 gallons of water, and raised temperature to 160°F. Turned off burner, and steeped for 15 minutes. | |||||||
Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.074 | 3 gallons | |||||
3 lb. 5 oz. Light malt extract 2 lb. Light dry malt extract |

Added hallertau hops at beginning of boil. Added 1/2 oz. Saaz with 10 minutes left, and the other 1/2 oz. upon completion of boil, just before removing the pot from the burner for cooling. | ||||||||

Carbonation: | Carbonated with 3/4 cup dextrose boiled in one pint of water. | |||||||
Tasting: | I may be biased, as this is my first brew, but I really really like it! Wife and neighbors agree. Very smooth, holds head nicely. Very nice malty flavor. My wife has already asked me to make some more of this. Maybe the naming strategy is paying off??? |
