Death by Hops

This is an extract version of Dave Brockington's Sister Star of the Sun.

I entered Dave's recipe into the Recipator to determine the IBU's, then
created this recipe to achieve about the same bitterness for a partial-volume
extract boil.I named it Death by Hops because it has a quarter pound of Chinook
in the boil and a total of a half pound of hops altogether, but it really shouldn't
be overwhelming--there's a lot of malt to balance it out.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
18 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 110 IBU
OG: 1.064 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 6.7% v/v (5.3% w/w)
Grain: .25 lb. British crystal 135-165L
.25 lb. Malted wheat
Steep: Place grains in bag. Put bag in 3 gallons of cold water. Turn on heat. Remove
bag when water starts to boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.107 3 gallons
8.5 lb. Light malt extract
1 tsp. Irish moss at 30 minute mark
Hops: 4 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
2 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1028 (London Ale), pint starter
Tasting: Haven't brewed this yet. Let me know if you try it.
