FriPA the 13th
This is my first attempt at an IPA, so I tried to keep things as simple as possible while preserving the quality. I was planning on making a Bell's Two Hearted clone using only Centennial hops, but found some really fresh EKG and decided to use them for aroma instead. Should be ready to be tapped on 13 October 2006, hence the name.

Steep: | Steep grains in water at 150°F for 30 minutes, then sparge with 170°F water. | |||||||

Add liquid malt extract, fill to 4 gallons, and boil for 60 minutes. | ||||||||

Tasting: | Very tasty, but came out much darker and maltier than expected. Next time I'll cut the Munich to 4-8 oz and add the LME late in the boil. Hopefully this will improve the hop character as well, without requiring additional hops. I'll probably dry hop with 1.5-2 oz (all Centennial) next time. |
