Darker Shade of IPA

I made this because I had a hankerin for an IPA -
I threw in 1 oz of roasted barley and 1 oz of acid malt I
had left over from a stout recipe. We'll see what happens.....

Brewer: the Red Stoners Email: -
Beer: Darker Shade of IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
31 HCU (~16 SRM)
Bitterness: 31 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 5.4% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Water: Poland Spring & Burton Water Salts
Grain: 13 oz. British crystal 50-60L
1 oz. Roasted barley
Steep: heated 2.5 water to 160° F, dropped in grains
and turned off heat for 40 minutes - cover on!!!
Final temp after 40 min was 140° F
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.114 2.5 gallons
6.8 lb. Amber malt extract
0.625 lb. Light dry malt extract
Added 1/4 oz. Burton Water Salts before the specialty grains.
Hops: 1 oz. Northdown (6.4% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Challenger (5.7% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5.5% AA, 20 min.)
.5 oz. Challenger (5.7% AA, 20 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5.5% AA, 2 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: I used Wyeast London III (#1318) - started one
day before boiling in 1 cup DME & 2 pints of water.
