Quadrotriticale
This is a special beer! It sounds just like it's spelled. The name comes from the Star Trek Episode "The Trouble With Tribbles." More info about the grain triticale can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triticale. I buy my triticale from Barry Farm's on the internet

Water: | I use tap water, seeings I'm on a well. I run the water for about 3mins before I collect it for use in my brew pot, and bring the water to a full boil first. We have no need here for treating well water any further
Grain: | 1 lb. Triticale | |||||||
Steep: | I've been suspending my grain bag in my brew pot so the grain doesn't scorch on the bottom of the pot. Next time I'm going to drop the grain bag for a full 12 hours into a crock pot and add the grain tea to the rest of the water when I start brewing
Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.107 | 2.5 gallons
6 lb. Amber malt extract 1 lb. Light dry malt extract |
||||||||
Irish Moss | ||||||||
Hops: | 1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 60 min.) 1 oz. Nugget (12% AA, 10 min.) |
|||||||

Log: | Bottle 10 days after adding yeast
Carbonation: | 2.1 volumes | Cane Sugar: 3.23 oz. for 5 gallons @ 70°F
Tasting: | Sweet citrus flavor, almost too much. Original wit recipe called for Sazz hops. I find Sazz to be too strong, but might go with something stronger than Nugget next time |
