Crystal Bay Pale Ale

Classic, hoppy, West Coast-style Pale Ale.
Modeled after the BEST Pale Ale known to man... in Chico, CA.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.1 gallons

13 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 41 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.5% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Grain: 1.25 lb. American crystal 20L
Steep: Steep specialty grains 30 mins (156 deg) - boil hops, not the extract.
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.185 1.5 gallons
4 lb. Light malt extract
2.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
Add extract last 15 mins, with addition of finishing hops (for lighter color).
Hops: .5 oz. Perle (9% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Magnum (15.5% AA, 30 min.)
1.0 oz. Cascade (6.6% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast Chico (w/starter)
