Alcohol: 5.6% v/v (4.4% w/w)
Water: not needed in my area
Grain: 10.0 lb. British lager
3.0 lb. Flaked rice
5.0 lb. American 2-row
3.0 lb. Flaked corn
Mash: 85% efficiency
single step mash around 155deg f. for 1.5hr.(+-)
when iodine test passes start runnoff and sparge.
I usually put half of starting hops in with mash.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.045 17.0 gallons
2.0 lb. Honey
add irish moss per. instructions on package
after heat is shut off and before cooling add honey-
if the honey is added wile still boiling it can harm the flavor.
stir well then cool to around 60-80deg f.
Hops: 1.0 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 60 min.)
1.0 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 45 min.)
1.0 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
1.0 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
1.0 oz. Saaz (aroma)
Yeast: use one qt. of either california ale yeast or lauger yeast
both will work,It depends on the availabe temps.
Log: with ale yeast ferment around 67deg
with lauger yeast shoot for about 50deg
on primary and secondary.
both cycles run about a week
then bottle for two to three weeks
try breaking with tradition and using clear
bottles, the different colors get interesting.(see carbonation section)
Carbonation: 2.6 volumes Corn Sugar: 8.92 oz. for 10.0 gallons @ 63°F
use one jolly rancher per 12oz bottle.
be creative,and have some fun- try some of every flavor.
don't lable them and when they are ready see who can identify
which flavor is which. Loads of fun at brew club meetings or parties
