Johnny Canuck's Red Lager

This was my first try at Marzen.
Turned out pretty darn good!

Type: All grain Size: 23 liters
Color:
25 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 23 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.5% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Water: used RO water from my local hardware store,
treated as req'd
Grain: 7. lb. British pale
1. lb. German Vienna
3.75 lb. Belgian CaraVienne
3.3 oz. Belgian Special B
0.50 lb. German Munich
0.75 lb. German Pilsner
Mash: 69% efficiency
step mashed and employed a double- decoction mash technique
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.049 26 liters
Irish moss 15 min from end of boil
Hops: .5 oz. Sterling (7.4% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Sterling (7.4% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Sterling (7.4% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Sterling (aroma)
Yeast: Started 2 days prior in a DME mixture of approx 1.040
Yeast type Wy. 2308 Munich
Log: Lagered after primary for 5 weeks @ 42°F
Carbonation: I bottle 15 for competition.. botlle conditioned with 3 primetabs.
Remained force carbonated in Keg.
Tasting: This is an excellent beer.. scored high 30's in local competition and I'll send it to Nation comp.!
