Peachy Keen

This turned out to be a great summertime thirst quencher. It's refreshing, tasty and both my wife and I enjoy it. So good I had to share.

Beer: Peachy Keen Style: American Wheat
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
4 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 24 IBU
OG: 1.058 FG: 1.020
Alcohol: 4.9% v/v (3.8% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. German Munich
Steep: Seep 25 min @ 155°F; Sparge with 170°F
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.096 3 gallons
6 lb. Wheat extract
20 oz. Honey
.25 oz. ground coriander seed @(15 min)(Optional)
Add the honey @(5 min)
6 Peaches (skinned & chopped) when pouring the hot wort into the fermenter.
Hops: 2 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: 15g Cooper Brewing Yeast (dry). Tossed it straight in.
Log: Primary for 1 week @ 75°F. No secondary. Bottle conditioned for 2 weeks.
Carbonation: Primed with one cup corn sugar and added a 5 oz. bottle of peach flavoring at bottling.
Tasting: Very tasty. Solid wheat beer base with a mild but lasting peach aftertaste. I was going for a refreshing lawnmower beer but this actually came out heavier than that. Next time I'm going to up the peaches, cut back on the wheat extract and not bother with the corriander, I just had some left over this time. My batch came out a little less alcoholic (4.1%) and darker (about peach colored) than the numbers above show. I think I might add irish moss and give it a week in the secondary just to clear it up a bit next time as well. Enjoy!
