Raspberry Wheat Ale
My girlfriend was planned a big pool party and she wanted me to brew a beer for the ladies. This was my first attempt at a light fruit beer. I used 2-row and wheat with a pinch of munich. I added the fruit flavor with raspberry extracts.

I skipped the Irish Moss beacuse I figured wheat beers weren't meant to be clear. Turns out that due to the high ammount of recirculation with my HERMS, it was clear anyway.
Hops: | 1 oz. Target (10% AA, 60 min.) 1 oz. Target (10% AA, 30 min.) 1 oz. Cascade (4.4% AA, 15 min.) |
|||||||
Yeast: | Wyeast Whit Bread. I wanted something that would ferment fast, flock out fast, and be able to work safely about 70F. (75F max)
Log: | I used a nylon hop bag.
Carbonation: | Forced carbed in keg. Added raspberry flavoring afterward.
Tasting: | If you are looking to make a beer aimed towards women, this is the one. I had girls who didn't drink beer pounding this stuff down. 13 gal wasn't enough. By the end of the party there were three cornies floating in the pool! |
