This continues with my line of beers named for dogs. Clyde was my friend's bulldog who recently passed away. I am brewing my first barley wine. I hope it packs the same wallop as he did when he bumped into you. A big hit in a small packagae.

Water: | Put water out the night before to dissipate any chemicals. Used tap water with no water treatment. 1 gallon for the grain mash. 1 gallon for the sparge water. 2.5 gallons for the boil. | |||||||
Grain: | 1 lb. American crystal 60L 8 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils) |

Steep: | Grains in bag in 1 gallon. This and sparge gallon brought up to 150 F, then put in oven for an hour to hold temp at 150. | |||||||
Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.077 | 4 gallons | |||||

Irish moss - 1/4 tsp at 15 minutes. With extract and grains sparged the initial boil was exactly 4 gallons. It was just over 3 gallons at the end of the boil. | ||||||||
