Grain: | 8 oz. American crystal 120L 2 oz. American chocolate 4 oz. American black patent |

Steep: | I put the grain in two gallons of cold water an brought the temperature up to 170° . I then removed it from the heat and let stand for 30 minutes. |

Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.217 | 2 gallons | |||||
4 lb. 8 oz. Light dry malt extract 3 lb. 8 oz. Amber dry malt extract 1 lb. 8 oz. Honey |

Honey was added to the wort at the begining of the boil. | ||||||||
Hops: | 1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 55 min.) 1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 5 min.) |

Yeast: | Warmed the liquid yeast to room temperature. | |||||||
Log: | Brewed on 13 December 2000 and then into the secondary on the 19 Dec 2000. I will bottle on the 23 December 2000. Since it is a very dark beer you can skip the secondary fermenter. Drinking now, mid Jan, and it is great. |

Tasting: | I truely cannot belive how great this beer is. By far better than store bought porters. Give this a try and let me know. |
