Hazel's Nut Porter
Smooth, gorgeous creamy head, perfectly carbonated (9psi), malty with a touch of the hazelnut (very subtle). Perfectly balanced!

Log: | Syrup used was Munton Extra Light, which resulted in a lighter color than I expected. Added syrup to pot after steeping and removing specialties, then brought to boil. Chop 12 oz of hazelnuts, roast (broil) for 2 3/4 minutes, add 45 minutes into boil. 1/2 oz Cascade (aroma in recipe) hops into fermenter after 24 hrs of fermentation. |
|||||||
Carbonation: | Keeping at about 9psi in the keg. Gives a very nice head. | |||||||
Tasting: | This thing was delicious from the day I kegged it last week. I don't expect this one to last much more than another week. The hazelnuts added only a touch of flavor, difficult to really notice unless you knew the recipe. Definitely one of my top 5. |
