Steep: | Placed grains in a bag and steeped them in 2.5 gal of water until it was almost boiling, then moved grains to a 2 quart pot of 170F water to rinse for 20 minutes. Brought the 2.5 to a boil while the grains soaked in the other pot and added malt extracts and other fermentables; then added the "sparge" water once it had soaked for a while. Added first addition hops as soon as everything came to a boil.

Log: | Kept on the primary for 8 days, then bottled (this beer needed to be done in a hurry for a party).
Carbonation: | 3/4 Cup Corn Sugar
Tasting: | Mild, warm, and raisin-like. This beer is definitely on the delicate side, which is interesting for a dark beer and definitely unusual for me to brew. I won't make this one again; I prefer my beers to be a little sharper in flavor, but it did come out pretty nice. |
