Shacked Porter

Chocolate Porter and will put coffee in a small secondary experiment.

Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
132 HCU (~42 SRM)
Bitterness: 23 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: well water.
1 tsp Irish Moss last 15 minutes.
Grain: 8 lb. American 2-row
4 lb. American crystal 90L
1 lb. American chocolate
Mash: 68% efficiency
60 minutes at 154° mash out at 170°. OG was calculated to be 1.059 but after boil and conversion for temperature OG was 1.038. I was torn to add fermentable adjuncts to raise the OG but Duffy and I decided not so to be true to the original plan. Cooled wort measured at 1.060-go figure. I can't , but so far so good.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.048 6.5 gallons
5 ounces unsweetened Ghiradelli powdered cocoa
Hops: 1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: Safale-04(Whitbread) pitched at 70°.
Log: brewed October 31, 2009.
fermentation temp 62° to 68°
Carbonation: forced at 28
