Mothra American Blonde

An Anglo-German American Blonde with US grain, English yeast, and German-ish hops. Turned out quite tasty.

Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.1% w/w)
Water: Savannah tap similar to Munich water
Grain: 8 lb. American 2-row
.5 lb. American crystal 10L
1 lb. Wheat malt
.5 lb. German Munich
Mash: 78% efficiency
152F for 60 min.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.042 6.8 gallons
IM at 15 min
Hops: 23g Sterling (6.1% AA, 60 min.)
23g Sterling (6.1% AA, 15 min.)
10g Sterling (6.1% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: S-04 cake - washed from a stout!
Log: 2 weeks primary at 68F. 2 weeks secondary (was very cloudy upon racking) at 70 or so.
Carbonation: medium carbonation
Tasting: Initially concerned about this one as it through off some phenolics in the primary. Ended up pretty clean though and the Sterling hops are definitely a spicy alternative to Hallertauer, etc. Extremely well-received at my annual O-fest party.
