India Pale Ale

This is a very good pale ale that I have made many times before. It is
an extract recipe that uses specialty grains steeped before the boil.
It is hopped very nicely (I think) for the near IPA I was shooting for.

Type: Extract Size: 5.6 gallons
Color:
32 HCU (~16 SRM)
Bitterness: 17 IBU
OG: 1.061 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.6% v/v (5.2% w/w)
Water: Straight tap water was used. It tastes fine, and hasn't killed me yet.
Grain: 1 lb. British crystal 70-80L
8 oz. Roasted barley
Steep: Put specialty grains into 1.5 gallons COLD water. Raised temperature
to just boiling and took grains out.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.172 2 gallons
7 lb. 10 oz. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 tsp. of gypsum was added to the boil water
Hops: 2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1028 English Ale yeast was used, straight from packet after it
had been started and risen.
Log: Started on 5/17, bottled on 5/31. Fermentatioon was carried out in a
2 stage process. Temp. was approx. 65 degrees F.
Carbonation: Primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar at bottling time.
