My Standard IPA. Great malt backbone and I love the Columbus Hops!!

Type: All grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
19 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 65 IBU
OG: 1.066 FG: 1.013
Alcohol: 6.8% v/v (5.4% w/w)
Water: Filtered water with 1/2 tsp gypsum in mash and 1/2 tsp gypsum in sparge water.
Grain: 10 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. American crystal 20L
1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
Mash: 75% efficiency
Mash-in with 4.5 gals 162 degree water. Stabilized at 152 degrees. mashed for one hour. Sparged to get 6.75 gallons to boil kettle.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.049 6.75 gallons
1 oz Columbus 60 mins. 1 oz Cascade 30 mins. 1/4 tsp finings 15 mins. 1 oz Cascade at shut down. 1 oz Columbus dry hop in secondary.
Hops: 1 oz. Columbus (14% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
1 oz. Columbus (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs WLP 002 english Ale Yeast in a 1 1/2 liter starter.
Log: Brewed on Oct 28, 2007. Primary in plastic at 68 Degrees for 5 days. Racked to secondary glass with dry hop addition for 7 days.
Carbonation: Forced Carbonated and kegged on November 10, 2007.
Tasting: I have brewed this IPA several times, and it is favorite of my drinking buddies. The Columbus hops have a very clean bitterness and a great piney aroma.
