Ball and Chain Pale Ale

Brewed for Ron's bachelor party weekend in Tionesta.

Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons

16 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 62 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.4% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Grain: 10 lb. American 2-row
2 oz. American victory
3 oz. Honey Malt
4 oz. American crystal 80L
2 oz. American crystal 120L
4 oz. Belgian CaraMunich
3 oz. Special Roast
Mash: 76% efficiency
153°F for 45 min, pull 1 gallon decoction and add to 1 gallon boiling water. Boil and return to mash. Mash out at 165°F for 10 min. Continuous sparge with 170°F to reach 7.5 gal in brewpot.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.041 7.5 gallons
Hops: 1 oz. Chinook (11.8% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Falconer's Flight "7 C's" (9.9% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
1 oz. Chinook (aroma)
Yeast: Safale US-05
Log: Primary at 70°F for 7 days. Secondary at 70°F for 10 days.
