RP

RP stands for: ratpiss
The inspiration for this beer is Griffon Extra Pale Ale and the often ignored style of Canadian golden ale.

Brewer: Larry Maler Email: maler@attglobal.net
Beer: RP Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract Size: 21.6 liters
Color:
7 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 27 IBU
OG: 1.047 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Water: Using store-bought carbon-filtered reverse-osmosis water, treated with two teaspoons of gypsum.
Boil: 70 minutes SG 1.045 23 liters
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
Hops: 28.4g Willamette (3.9% AA, 60 min.)
28.4g Willamette (3.9% AA, 30 min.)
28.4g Hallertauer (3.9% AA, 15 min.)
28.4g Hallertauer (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast American Ale Yeast. I smacked the smack pack two days before and made a starter the day before brewing.
Log: Brew date: Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000.
The aroma hops added to the secondary. I used 1 ounce of Hallertau pellets for this.
Carbonation: Batch priming, bottle refermentation.
Tasting: It's now June 4, 2000. Over the months, the hop aroma of this beer has nearly disappeared, probably since it is kept unrefrigerated, and I live in Florida. Everything else is great, however! This is a good simple beer for beginners, designed to teach a friend how to brew. (he's head-over-heels into it!) I recommend it to anyone who doesn't wnat the time/trouble of mashing.
