Apricot Pale Ale
The full-extract version of this (1/2 light DME and 1/2 wheat DME)
was a hit with friends but I found it a bit thin. I am going to do a
mash to add some malt character to the beer. This will also give me
a chance to try batch-sparging which I can only do with a reduced
grain-bill in my 5 gallon Gott cooler (because I need the room for
all the extra water). Hence, the partial-mash. This one will
be a little hoppier than the last - again personal preference.

Log: | 6/27: Tried batch sparging for the first time and ended up with ~85% efficiency so I overshot my boil OG. No big deal. Miscalculated evaporation on the boil so I ended up with more wort than planned. No big deal. 7/10: Ready to rack to secondary after almost two weeks (was on vacation). Will add 4 oz. apricot flavoring and secondary for one week then bottle. 7/16: OK, finally getting around to racking to the secondary. |
