Red Raspberry Wheat

This is a full bodied, flavorful, aromatic, and strong red raspberry wheat. Don't be fulled by the incorrect alcohol %, this beer had an OG of 1080, with a finishing of 1028, which put it at 6.9%. The calculator doesn't take into account the 4 lbs of red raspberry puree added in the fermenter. This is a great summer wheat beer, with a wonderful full bodied red raspberry flavor, and with a kick!

Brewer: Gary Slafka Email: gtslafka@comcast.net

7.0 lb. Light malt extract
0.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
1.0 lb. Wheat extract
Take note that the 7 pounds of lite liquid malt extract is really wheat malt extract, which isn't a choice with this software.
Hops: 2. oz. Hallertauer (4.1% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Hallertauer (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs WSP320-American HefeWeizen.
At the time I added the yeast, I added 4 pounds of red raspberry pie filling(puree), that I bought at a bakery. This really kicked up the sugars and thus the alcohol %. Also at bottling, I added 4 ounces of red raspberry flavoring for aroma.

Bottled 8/02/03
Actual OG was 1080 and finished at 1028

Tasting: A very nice grasscutting beer, great red raspberry flavor and aroma, and a very nice kick. A manly fruit beer, if there is such a thing!
