Castle Brown Ale

This is a slightly nutty and sweet mild beer. Darker than Newcastle

41 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 14 IBU
OG: 1.053 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 4.8% v/v (3.8% w/w)
Water: None needed. Tap water is good quality.
Grain: 4.0 oz. British crystal 50-60L
4.0 oz. Dark chocolate 45L
1.0 oz. British black patent
Steep: Steep grains @ 150° F. for approximately 1/2 hour.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.134 2 gallons
7.0 lb. Light wheat malt extract
Add LME after grains have been steeped for 1/2 hour. Add 1 oz. German Spalt. Boil 55 minutes. Add Kent Golding in last 5 minutes of boil.
Hops: 1.0 oz. German Spalt (6.8% AA, 60 min.)
1.0 oz. Kent Goldings (5.4% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Add Safale 04 sprinkled on top of cooled wort (below 75°F). Actual @ 65° F.
Log: Ferment for 7-10 days in primary. Rack to secondary for another 7-10 days.
Carbonation: Kegged. Allow to carbonate at 20 psi for at least 3 days. Serve at 6-8 psi.
Tasting: Beer was great. Darker in color but very light in taste. Will not change anything but will definitely make this one again.
