Mexican - Agave Ale

Beer: Mexican - Agave Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
13 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 43 IBU
OG: 1.049 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 4.5% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Steep: Steep grains (Cara-pils) 20-25 minutes at 155°-165° degrees
Boil: 40 minutes SG 1.081 3 gallons
3 lb. 3 oz. Light malt extract
3 lb. Blue Agave
If all else fails you will find Blue Agave in the health/organic food store. Was 4$ cheaper than malt as well. Is what I think makes this beer! 1 tbs Irish Moss last 10 minutes of boil. Willamette hops were leaf hops in bag
Hops: 1 oz. Perle (8% AA, 40 min.)
1 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 40 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 20 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Used Northwestern 1332 Wyeast activator, seems great!
Wanted to use White Labs Cali ale 001, will see on the next batch
Log: Primary - 15 days
Keg/bottle 16th day or when fermentation completely stops for 3-4 days
Carbonation: 1/2 cup priming sugar Keg
1 cup priming sugar bottle
Tasting: Crisp, sweet, mildly malty with a hint of agave. Easy drinking all year yum!
