Picnic Pale Ale

Tastes great from the keg. Cascade, cascade, cascade. Nice summer sippin' Brew. Maybe just a little too much hops.....nah

Type: Extract Size: 5 gallons
Color:
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 90 IBU
OG: 1.051 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 4.7% v/v (3.7% w/w)
Water: 1 tbsp gypsum
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.039 6.5 gallons
3 lb. 3 oz. Breiss Golden Light Extract
3 lb. 0 oz. Light dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 90 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
3 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: 2 pkgs of Danstar Nottingham (first time using dry yeast, not bad)
Log: Used a hop basket for 3 oz of cascade. Kept at 170F for 2 hrs and then strained and added to wort before cooling. Makes for an excellent head and aftertaste.

Carbonation: 1/3 cup corn sugar before kegging
add 20lbs of pressure and shake rattle and roll
Tasting: Excellent American pale ale. Tastes like a Northwest brew.
