Nut Brown Ale

Just a plain old Nut Brown. Using Philadelphia water the water that made Great Beer's when we had a lot of breweries.Now we only have a couple and their micro's.

Beer: Nut Brown Ale Style: English Brown
Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
35 HCU (~17 SRM)
Bitterness: 21 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 4.4% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Water: Philadelphia tap water that was filtered with a Pur-filter.
Grain: 7.0 lb. British pale
8 oz. Wheat malt
1.0 lb. American victory
1.0 lb. American crystal 60L
4 oz. American chocolate
Mash: 65% efficiency
Batch-Sparge using a s/s braided hose. Mash temp is 156° for 1 hour.
Collect enough wort for your boil.
Boil: 70 minutes SG 1.042 6.5 gallons
1.0 lb. Lite Dry Malt Extract
Irish Moss last 15 min. Re-hydrated of course. Yeast Nutrient last 10 min.
Hops: 0.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5.1% AA, 70 min.)
0.5 oz. Fuggles (5.5% AA, 30 min.)
0.5 oz. Fuggles (5.5% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: WLP-002 English Ale -> starter. do it twice to build a good population. Airate with O2. 15 sec.
Log: Ferment at 67° for 1 week primary 2 weeks secondary. Bottle or Keg.
Carbonation: Prime with 5oz. of Brown sugar.
Tasting: Good stuff!!!!!
