Brewer: | Ben Van Dusen | Email: | vandusen@uoregon.edu
Beer: | My Mild | Style: | English Dark Mild
Type: | All grain | Size: | 6.0 gallons
Color: |
|
Bitterness: | 25 IBU | |||||
OG: | 1.039 | FG: | 1.010 | |||||
Alcohol: | 3.7% v/v (2.9% w/w)
Grain: | 7 lb. American 2-row 8 oz. American crystal 40L 4 oz. American black patent 4 oz. British chocolate |
|||||||
Mash: | 80% efficiency | |||||||
I mash at a high temp of 160 so that I will have less fermentable sugars and a higher FG.
Boil: | 60 minutes | SG 1.031 | 7.5 gallons
Hops: | 1.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.) .5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 2 min.) |
|||||||
Yeast: | Using a California Ale Yeast slurry from my last IPA.
Tasting: | I've made this before with a boil at an even higher temperature but it hurt my mash conversion and I ended up with a 65% utilization. This time I got in the upper 70s. |
