Tasting: | At bottling, tasted sweet. Smell was muted but also sweet, slightly roasty. Would have bottled sooner. Newborn plus sick toddler. 10/7/14 tasted after chilling for a couple of days. Taste has improved X10. Nose and up front taste is all malty sweetness but there's nothing cloying about it. The mouthfeel is thin but the carbonation isn't to blame. There's a tartness that is probably due to under pitching but it's a fruityness. The hops are last. They need help. The flavors are blended but subdued. In future incarnations, I would explore 1968 with this beer's malt bill and more hops for flavor. |
