Tagged Out Stout

This is a "Whopper" of a milk stout brewed for the 2012 archery season.

Type: All grain Size: 6.0 gallons
Color:
82 HCU (~31 SRM)
Bitterness: 26 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.018
Alcohol: 6.1% v/v (4.8% w/w)
Water: Tapwater with 1 Tbs 5.2 stabilizer, 1 tsp gypsum.
Grain: 9 lb. American 2-row
12 oz. American crystal 80L
10 oz. American chocolate
6 oz. American black patent
10 oz. Flaked barley
1 lb. 8 oz. Flaked oats
Mash: 80% efficiency
153F for 60 minutes. 1 gallon decoction, mash out at 160F for 10 min. Sparge with 170F to reach 7.5 gal in brewpot.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.052 7.5 gallons
4 oz. Molasses
1 oz. Vanilla Extract (2 Tablespoons)
13 oz. Malted Milk Powder
2 oz. Hershey Cocoa Powder
Add Molasses, cocoa, malted milk and Vanilla Extract at flameout.
Hops: .5 oz. Warrior (16.7% AA, 60 min.)
.25 oz. Warrior (aroma)
Yeast: Safale US-05 in a 1000ml starter.
Carbonation: Keg and serve on nitrogen.
