Dog Day Mild

Wanted a light flavorful quick brewing and easy drinking beer for a party with enough color to be interesting but not enough to scare anyone. A light mild will hopefully fit the bill.

Type: All grain Size: 11 gallons
Color:
16 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 23 IBU
OG: 1.038 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 3.8% v/v (3.0% w/w)
Water: Used carbon-filtered water and two tsp. of Gypsum in the mash liquor. Adjusted mash liquor and sparge liquor with lactic acid.
Grain: 8 lb. British pale
3 lb. British mild
.25 lb. American victory
1 lb. British crystal 70-80L
.125 lb. British chocolate
1 lb. Flaked corn
Mash: 80% efficiency
Single infusion at 152 Deg. F for 60 mins. Mashout at 168 Deg. F for 10 mins. Recirculate and Sparge to collect 6.75 - 7 gal. Raise to boil volume of 12.5 gals.
Boil: 65 minutes SG 1.033 12.5 gallons
4 oz. Brown sugar
2 tsp. Irish moss added at start of boil
Hops: 2 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs British Ale yeast, one tube in a pint starter for each 5.5 gals of wort.
Log: Brewed on August 1st 1999 and fermenting at 68 Deg. F.
