Breakfast in a Bottle Oatmeal Stout

Beer: Breakfast in a Bottle Oatmeal Stout Style: Oatmeal Stout
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
38 HCU (~18 SRM)
Bitterness: 40 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: Filtered tap water
Grain: 1 lb. 8 oz. Rolled oats
Steep: Roasted 1.5 Lbs Quick Oats at 450 Deg. F for 1 hr. Steep in grain bag @ 150 - 170 Deg. F for 20-30 min.




Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.108 3 gallons
3 lb. 3 oz. Amber malt extract
3 lb. 3 oz. Dark malt extract
1 lb. Brown sugar
12 oz. Maple syrup
add 1 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, last 10 minutes of boil.
Hops: 2 oz. Perle (7.7% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: 2 pkg @ 7g Munton's Dry Ale Yeast rehydrated for 15 Min in 8 oz. warm water 95 deg F. add 4 oz. water w/ 1 Tsp cane sugaer to proof
Log: Primary fermentor for 14 days and then bottle
Carbonation: Prime using 5 oz. corn sugar
Tasting: I'll let you know how it comes out. Plan to brew around 1/21/07
