Parti-gyle Helles Bock/ Kolsch

This is a Parti-gyle brew that will produce two different worts. The first run-off will be higher gravity at around 1.060 and will be a cool fermented Helles Bock. The second run-off will be around 1.040 and will be fermented with German Ale Yeast for a Kolsch style ale.

Type: All grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
9 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 49 IBU
OG: 1.088 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 10.1% v/v (7.9% w/w)
Water: 50/50% tap water and distilled water.
Grain: 10 lb. German Pilsner
3 lb. Wheat malt
5 lb. American Vienna
2 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 60% efficiency
For a dryer beer, it will be mashed at 150°F.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.088 5 gallons
Hops: 2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Helles Bock- Saf-Lager
Kolsch- German Ale Yeast
Carbonation: Primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar for lively bubbles.
