Bavarian Pilsener

Recipe comes from Andy the Beer Guy at Asheville Brewer's Supply.
He has me use Northwestern extracts and WYeast Liquid Yeasts. Always VERY fresh hops (sealed light-blocking bags) and yeast (usually only 2 weeks old)

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
11 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 6 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 5.4% v/v (4.2% w/w)
Water: Straight from tap. Live Dangerously!!
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 20L
Steep: Steep Crystal Malt in bag for one hour at just UNDER boiling.
Stir bag often to avoid sticking. Sparge and squeeze the juice out of the bag when done. Use spent grain for compost, or fun for squirrels.
Boil: 40 minutes SG 1.141 2 gallons
6 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Tettnanger (4.8% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (aroma)
Yeast: WYEAST Liquid Bavarian Lager #2206, two weeks old.
Popped the bubble 24 hours ahead.
