To Big For You Britches Brown
This is my first recipe and decided to try a big beer at the same time. email me if you try it and let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

Grain: | .5 lb. British pale .5 lb. American crystal 40L .25 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils) .25 lb. Belgian Special B .25 lb. American black patent |

Steep: | Bring to 2 gallons of water to a 160 degrees and add grains in musin bag. turn off heatand let the temp come back down to 130 stiring every few minutes. Then bring heat back up to about 152-155 and keep there. | |||||||
Boil: | minutes | SG 1.204 | 2 gallons | |||||
6 lb. Light malt extract 3 lb. Light dry malt extract 8 oz. Maple syrup |

Add your malt extracts and let it heat at about 152-155 for 25 minutes then bring to a gental rolling boil and your hops. gently boil for 60 minutes. In the last 15 minute of the boil add 1 cup of maple syryp and one Irish Moss clerifying tablet. | ||||||||
Hops: | 1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.) 1 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 60 min.) |

Yeast: | I used White Labs California Ale Yeast. | |||||||
Log: | secondary after 2-3 weeks bootled 3 weeks after secondary |
