First Born Amber Ale

Brew to celebrate my first born child, a son due on March 28th 2010. Have been off alcohol for 9 months to support my wife, so this brew will be enjoyed!

Beer: First Born Amber Ale Style: American Amber Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 23 liters
Color:
26 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 30 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.5% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Water: Vancouver tap water
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 60L
Steep: - raised 3 litres water to 80°C
- steeped 1 lb Crystal 70-80L for 30 minutes
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.074 14 liters
7 lb. Amber malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Willamette (4.8% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (7% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Willamette (4.8% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (7% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Ale 22g. Added some wort but didn't froth like I would expect. Hoping they weren't dead although was well before expiry date (2012)
